We will endeavor to provide you with uninterrupted, error free access to our website, however due to the nature of the internet this cannot always be guaranteed. On rare occasions your access may be restricted or interrupted to allow updates, upgrades or repairs; we will endeavor to carry out such tasks in the shortest time possible.
Please note Horse Direct is a trading name of Houghton Country Ltd. Payments made by debit or credit card will appear on your bank statement under Houghton Country Ltd.
You are responsible for ensuring that your account details and passwords remain confidential when using our website and agree to accept responsibility for all activities which occur under your account and password. If you become concerned at any point that this information has become known to someone else or that your account is being misused please contact us immediately.
Please ensure you provide us with details which are complete and correct when setting up your account. We cannot be held responsible for any delays to your order due to incorrect information being supplied. Please advise us should your details change at any time or you wish your details to be removed.
Our Contract with you
When you place an order to purchase goods from Horse Direct you will be sent a confirmation email containing details of your order. We also accept orders by telephone and a confirmation email can be sent at your request. A contract between you and Horse Direct Ltd exists only when the order has been accepted and payment processed.
All of our products are subject to availability and we reserve the right to edit or remove items from our site, refuse access to the website or cancel orders at our discretion. If for any reason we have to cancel an order it will be without charge to you and you will be notified immediately or offered an alternative. All delivery dates are estimates.
We make every effort to ensure the pictures used to illustrate products on our website are accurate; in some circumstances pictures are used for illustrative purposes only and may not be indicative of the colour available. If you are at all unsure about the item you are buying please phone us for details. If you believe the item you have purchased was represented incorrectly on our site we will investigate the issue and where necessary provide you with a full refund and reimburse your postage back to us.
We make every effort to maintain the prices shown on our website. Prices however are liable to increase beyond our control and therefore we reserve the right to discontinue items or to amend prices when necessary. If the cost of your order differs from the prices originally quoted, we will contact you, either by telephone or email, to request your instructions on how to proceed. Prices and special offers listed on our website may differ from those in our shop or show unit. We regret that we are not able to offer the same discounts on items purchased in store.
All prices quoted include VAT at the current rate of 20%, where this is applicable.
The fastest way to pay for your order is by credit or debit card, we accept all major credit cards. Payment is taken immediately by our online payment provider SagePay unless you opt to pay using your PayPal account. SagePay offers a secure payment gateway for online credit and debit card processing. By handling our payments in this secure manner it ensures no persons at Horse Direct ever view your card details. If you decide to cancel your order or we cannot fulfill your order a full refund will be issued to your card via a second SagePay transaction. Do not email Horse Direct your card details. We can accept no responsibility if you provide us with your details in this way. Card fraud is illegal and will always lead to prosecution. Payment can also be taken over the phone by credit or debit card; please ensure you have your card details at hand when placing an order.
Horse direct take all reasonable care, in so far as it is in our power to do so, to keep the details of your order and payment secure, but in the absence of negligence on our part we cannot be held liable for any loss you may suffer if a third party obtains unauthorised access to any data you provide when accessing or ordering from Horse Direct. The Horse Direct website is fully PCI Compliant.
Gift vouchers are added to your online wallet. To access these funds place the items you wish to buy in your basket, log in to your account and click Pay by Card. You will then be given the option to redeem the funds in your online wallet as full or part payment towards your order. We regret vouchers can’t be redeemed in store or on our show unit. To use a promotional code or discount code simply click the button to apply in the basket screen.
We endeavor to post out your goods the same day they are ordered, however in busy periods this can take a little longer. Postage costs are detailed below; we reserve the right to amend these costs for large or bulky items both within the UK and overseas. Please email or phone if you are concerned about this. All goods are posted using either Recorded First Class with the Royal Mail or DPD; goods cannot be classified as lost until 14 days after posting. Please note overseas orders delivery can take longer and may be subject to import tax. Any charges for customs must be paid by you, we have no control over these and do not know what they may be as customs policies vary from country to country. Contact your local customs officer for full details and regulations.

Please check the condition of your parcel on delivery prior to signing for acceptance. In the event that goods are missing or damaged on arrival please specify against your signature and inform us immediately, within 3 working days, otherwise no claim can be considered.
Refunds or exchanges are made in accordance with the Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000. Under this regulation you have 14 days from the day following receipt of your goods to return them. If you wish to return an item you do so at your own expense (unless the item is faulty); the item must be unused and in its original condition (including all tags attached). This does not affect your statutory rights.
The following is a quick guide to our returns policy:
• You have 28 days to return a non-sale item to us; items must be in their original packaging, unworn and not damaged. A full refund or exchange will be given.
• You have 14 days to return a sale item to us for a full refund; you then have a further 7 days in which you can return the item but no refund can be given - you will be offered either an exchange or credit note (valid for 12 months).
• If an item is faulty on arrival you have 14 days in which to contact us for a full refund or exchange. If an item is faulty you will be sent a postage label to return the item to us at no expense to yourself. Please contact us to advise of the fault and request a postage label. We regret we cannot reimburse your postage costs if you choose not to use a pre-paid label. Items deemed faulty after this period will be dealt with on a case by case basis in consultation with manufacturers.
• If a parcel looks damaged on arrival do not sign for it; instead refuse the parcel as damaged during posting.
• We offer an extended period of returns at Christmas for goods purchased as Christmas presents. Last return date for Christmas presents is January 14th.
If you wish to return an item after these periods you must seek authorisation in writing by email.
You must make your own arrangements to return goods to us and all postage costs are to be covered by you unless the goods are deemed faulty. We recommend that you obtain proof of postage as Horse Direct cannot be held responsible for any items lost during transit back to us. There will be a returns form in with your parcel, please fill this in so we know how to process your return. You will be refunded the full value of the goods purchased. If your original order qualified for free delivery (value over £50) but the returned item brings the value of your order below £50 a carriage charge of £4.95 will be deducted from your refund.

We are happy to export orders. Goods ordered from Horse Direct for delivery outside the UK may be subject to import duties and taxes, these will be levied once the parcel reaches its destination country. Any charges for customs must be paid by you, we have no control over these and do not know what they may be as customs policies vary from country to country.
